Our September pick is Jayne Allen's Black Girls Must Die Exhausted. This contemporary novel is book of discovery, through Tabitha's fictional journey we come to understand with her that life does not go according to plan and sometimes- many times, you have to pivot. Pivot to the twists that come with being a woman in a male dominated field, being a woman who wants security and stability and most of all being a Black woman. Little does Tabitha know that this discovery is the beginning of learning to be ok with being out of control. This is the first book of the Black Girls trilogy and it is a 8/10, perfect for anyone trying to make sense of their own reality.
The Seven Husband of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
The first book for the month of August is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This past and present retelling is a fictional story about the life of an old Hollywood Star talking sharing all her stories with a seemingly random up and coming writer she has chosen to write her biography. Little does she know that they're connected in ways she could never imagine. This book is a 9/10, perfect for anyone with a curious mind and perfect for the first book of the month.
